Diocese Announces Schedule of “The Life & Times of Saint Mardarije Symposium”

The Serbian Orthodox Diocese of New Gracanica and Midwestern America, as host and organizer of the upcoming glorification festivities of Saint Mardarije of Libertyville on July 14-16th, is pleased to announce the schedule of “The Life & Times of Saint Mardarije Symposium” which will kick-off the weekend of events on Friday, July 14th.

The Symposium will be held at Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Chicago according to the following schedule:

Srdja Trifkovic, PhD

3:00 pm ​​Reflection on the Newly Published Memoires of Bishop Mardarije
Nicholas Groves, PhD

4:00 pm ​St. Mardarije’s Russian Context: Reflections on Intellectual and Religious Developments in Late Imperial Society
Nicholas Ganson, PhD

5:00 pm ​​Vespers

6:00 pm ​​Dinner

7:00 pm ​​KEYNOTE ADDRESS:
Saint Mardarije: Wondrous is God in His Saints
His Eminence Metropolitan AMPHILOHIJE

“This Symposium will be a fitting start to the Glorification weekend because it will show the times and events that shaped the life of Saint Mardarije, how he was in dialogue with them, but also how he responded to them and attained that true measure of purpose which is sainthood,” said His Grace Bishop Longin, who encourages all our faithful to attend.

The liturgical celebrations of the Canonization of Saint Mardarije of Libertyville will continue on Saturday, July 15th, and Sunday, July 16th, at New Gracanica Monastery and Saint Sava Monastery.
